The project
RTBF and its teams, including the fantastic team behind ‘Y’a pas de planète B’, came together to plant a micro-forest inspired by the Miyawaki method in Belgium in January 2025.
On a plot of land close to densely populated urban areas, 200m² of urban micro-forest has been dedicated to the future of the planet. 600 young trees, comprising 19 different local species, were planted.
This project, carried out in Walloon Brabant (Wavre), has several objectives: to extend ecological corridors, create micro-habitats for local biodiversity, and contribute to the development of nature near urban areas. But also to raise public awareness of the importance of plants and trees in our environment. For older generations as well as younger ones.
This project is a fine example of an initiative with several complementary objectives: soil restoration and awareness-raising/education.
